104, Killing pains. If a person suffering from pain in his hands, feet or hody, takes for seven days, every morning, three hand- fuls of water ( i.e as much as is contained in the cavity of the hands) charmed with the Amritpani mantra (No. 53) he will be relieved of the pain. CHAPTER XL 105. Miscellaneous cujriosiiies. 1. The crest of a peacock should be reduced to powder and taken by the man for seven days and the excreta of peacock should be rubbed on the plant to procure its rapid growth and early fruits. 2. The powdered root of swallow- wort should be mixed with sesamum oil and dried in the sun for seven days. Then it should be boiled and dried rn the sun, and boiled again. Two hell-metal vessels should be rubbed with the jugglery oil, and the sesamum oil in question should be put in one of those vessels 'and kept covered with the other, and exposed to the sun again. The oil that trickles down is called the Alcan oil. This oil has wonderful properties. If it is rubbed on a plant for fifteen days, the plant will fructify within a short time. If the seed of a lotus, reduced to powder, is mixed with this oil, and then thrown into water, a lotus plant will grow therefrom. If any seeds are rubbed with this oil and broadcasted, they will germinate without delay. 3. If this oil is rubbed on flower or fruit or on copper or bell-metal vessels, they will look handsome. 4. The Kachmam should be ground in water and mixed with the Alcan oil ; if one puts on .the sandals l rubbed with this oil, he will cover a distance of four dandas in one dandas time.
