KINDS AND CHARACTERISTICS OF THE HORSE.
The Tatuk (Bhutan pony) and the Turuki (Turki pony) have each three varieties.
A wide chest and a large peck in a Tangon (male), and a narrow chest and a slender neck in a Taji (mare) are best in a Tatuk. An Achowari will look for al. these.
POINTS OF A TURUKI TANGAN. (Male Turki pony.)
Short ears, small eyes, long muzzle, stout legs and knees, long and thick necks, broad quarters or buttocks uniform in colour, whether in a Pakhara (a spotted horse) or other indicate a good horse. If the trunk of the horse is broad, the frame of the body, and the croup long and the size of the tail small or thin, nothing more need be said of that Turuki (i e., the pony is a very good one).
POINTS OF A KANYA. (Mare.)
If the forehand is short and there is a pair of whorls on the forehead, the disposition of such a mare is not good; one which is continually grinding its teeth is given to shying. One having the entire body black is also not of a good temper. An Achowari will look for these points.
An expert should have his mind strong and under control, he should also try the horse by having a ride upon it. Only the intelligent expert will discover what he wants to know.
