It is some time, since my friends at Tezpur and North-Lakhimpur
urged upon me the desirableness of compiling text in the History of
Assam such as might prove useful as reading book on our schools.
Following their suggestions and realising from my own experience as a
teacher that the results of study of History of Assam in our Middle and
High Schools are anything but satisfactory, and that the young pupils
neither receive any distinct impression, nor acquire a love for study of
history that would lead them, in after years, to pursue the subject further,
from the present standards entitled "Assam-Buranjees ", which are in use
a texts in the schools of Assam proper,I have endeavoured to embody
in this little book, entitled “Asomar Buranjee", as many collection of
authenticated historical accounts of Assam as available up-to-date, in a
systematic order and abriedged form, easy for comprehension of the
readers of tender age and the general reading-public as well.
In fact, it is not practicable to collect all the authenticated informa- tion for compilation of a History of Assam from one reliable source alone. Hence, I have had to consult very many Historical Works, Treatises, Essays, Journals, Banagshavalies, Copper Plates, Inscriptions, Records, Chronicles etc. and to extract truths from various reliable tradi- tion, for which I heartily thank their respective owners, more specially sir Edward Gait, K. C. S. I. M. R. A. S. I. C. S. C. L E., who devoted a good deal of his valuable time after the Historical Research of Man during his meritorious service in this Province.
In conclusion,I am to admit that the very preface makes no pe tence of is completeness in the few page of the booklet; but,I hope to increase it usefullness in time if it can earn appreciation of the well- wishers of the Assamese people and their country, and in the event of its being introduced as text-book in Assam Schools.

Second to Nineteenth Editions
Gradual improvement and development had been accomplished from its second to the sixteenth editions when the bulk of the test "Asomor Buranji" appeared to be double of is first appearance, which, it is gratefully acknowledged, is undoubtedly due to the kind appreciation of the general reading-public, and more specially the encouragement extended by the Education Department, Assam.
The Text has been thoroughly revised once again in its this 19th edition. With insertion of foot-notes of very many collections, chiefly
