from several "Asom Buranjis” and Shorter Chronicles of Assam, compiled and edited by Rai Bahadur S. K. Bhuyan, M. A, B, L., Professor, Cotton College, and Honorary Director of Historical and Antiquarian Studies, Assam and other popular Traditions, manuscript Banghavalis, unpublished historical researches, with a view to make it up-to-date, the importance and usefulness of the Text have been, it is believed, much increased, Number of additional illustrations of some rare portrait-prints, in the present edition, gives it a fresh feature, which might, it is hoped, be appreciated by students and general reading public. It is to be noted, however, that the foot-notes are mainly meant for the Reading-Public, and more specially the Teacher but not the Tought : the teachers should first make them their own and then try to imprint them in the minds of the young pupils of tender age.
