This saying means that the * bhakats” of this sattrea used to be so punctilious, that they washed firewood before cooking with it, for fear that it might have been defiled by the touch of some person. Now-a-days the “ bhabats” do not even take the trouble to wash their feet before eating, washing of not only the feet, but the whole body, before eating being the strict custom of all Hindus. 13.
