I was very glad to have been able to visit this school, though I could not see it in work; but the Pandit, whom I met afterwards and who is an exceptionally intelligent and well-behaved young man belonging to a very respectable family and well qualified— he having read up to class IX of High School and passed ‘Guru’ class Exam. from Jorbat— was not to blame.
The school house and the compound presented a very neat and pleasing appearance. The garden was exceptionally successful. I trust the inner working of the school is compatible with its outer establishment.
I congratulate the local officers on this very beautiful school. Attendance was not bad, I understood.
I noted that the Pandit got only Rs. 17. The Local Board, the present Chairman of which is so enthusiastic about education, may be very kind to increase the Pandit's pay to
Rs. 20. He fully deserves it.
