thing in that connection to the satisfaction of all concerned. The President Shri Borbora in an impressive speech dwelt at length on the subject matter. In the discussion that followed Prof. T. N. Goswami also took part. The subject for discussion in the coming sitting of our Association is. "Role of Chemistry in Agriculture"

I fervently appeal to my student friends to take active part in the functions of the Asso- ciation and to extend their helping hands so as to make the fund of the Association strong. We also request the College authority to extend whatever financial help it can towards the fund of the Association.

Lastly, I offer my thanks to my student friends who have helped me in discharging my duties and especially to Prof. D. K. Choudhury and Prof. T. N. Goswami for their ample guidance.

JORHAT INDEP. COY N. C. C.

 Senior Division (Army Wing)

Before going to recount the activities of our Coy, for the session 1957-58, I offer my hearty thanks to U/O D. Barthakur ; U/O B. Baruah C. S. M. G. Hatibaruah and the Cadets of other ranks for their sincere service which made the Coy, a success in many ways. Secondly, I express my goodwill towards the new Cadets who are joining in our Coy, not only to acquire the various trainings of weapons, map-reading etc., but to preserve the India-wide reputation of this Coy. Under an Army Captain and with a brilliant staff of Army Instructors our Coy. has been running on its progressive way since 1949. I am very glad to see the highest number of new Cadets enrolled this year in our Coy.

This Coy. has to provide seats for the students of both Assam Agricultural College and J. B. College. As this Coy. possesses a limited number of seats, many have failed to join in our Coy. for want of vacancy. I earnestly hope their enrollment in the next session.

 N. C. C. Day :- This is the auspicious day for all the N. C. C. students of India. For the convenience of the 2nd year students of our College, the N. C. C. Day was obesrved by our Coy, on the 8th December, 1957 with a day long programme. The Day' began with an attractive "Flag March" in the main roads of our town accompanied by the A. P. Battalion Band, Dergaon. In the afternoon, along with the items of sport, a few impressive demons- trations were presented by our Cadets before the huge gathering of public. The best of them was "A Section in Attack" which was praised by one and all, particularly by the army men who had come to witness this function from the Transit Camp and Air Field, Jorhat. By digging ditches, weapons like Light Machine Gun. Sten Gun, etc., were fired to stimulate the show proper. But for want of a large and open field we could not put up the show of S. Bomb firing with 2" Morter. The "Bayonet Fighting" and "Fire Fighting" were two other attractive shows. The D. C. of Sibsagar took the salute of the "March-past" presented by our Coy. He presided over the function by delivering a suitable and beneficial lecture to the Cadets. In the evening, a pleasant and comfortable variety performance was held at the J. B. College hall where some higher Army Officers and along with a huge gathering of public were entertained by the impressive items of the performance. We were very happy on receiving the kind co-operation of local people in this function and we expect the same in future too. Now, I offer my hearty thanks to ex-S. U. O. SI Ahmed and ex-S. U. O. B. Bha- tta for their help in this function. Moreover, I extend my grateful thanks to Band Major,
