Acknowledgment. I have expressed above my in debtedness to Srijut Toseswar Sarma who helped me to get the manuscript and to Srijut Nityananda Sarma who lent me the use of it. I am thankful to Pandit umakanta Misra for his kind assistance in tracing the passages from Magha. But I am greatly indebted to Pandit Joy Krishna Misra, M.A., for the very valuable assistance he gave me in editing this manuscript. Without his help it would not have been possible for me to bring out this edition in the midst of my heavy official duties. He has helped me in all details of the work; and in appreciation of his service I have obtained his permission to put in his name as assistant editor of this manuscript. Finally I am indebted to Rai Bahadur Dr. S. K. Bhuyan, the Honorary Director of Historical and Antiquarian Studies of Assam for his generous response to my request to publish this manuscript from his Department. As soon as I told him of the manuscript Dr. Bhuyan was good enough to write to the Government for permission to take up this manuscript as one of the publications of his Department, The Government has kindly given this permission. I thank the Rai Bahadur for his help, but for which this manuscript might not have been published even now. Jorhat, Assam. March 25, 1941. S. c. Goswami.
