(ii) Scholars should be invited to submit a synopsis of their proposed lectures to the Dircctor of Public Instruction, Assam, who should select the lecturer for the year in consultation with the Principal of the Cotton College and the Inspector of Schools, Assam Valley Circle. If none of these officers is an Assamese, the Director of Public Instruction should co-opt an Assamese of culture and education as the fourth member.

(iii) The lecturers may be paid, out of the fund, a remuneration of Rs 100] for each lecture approved in synopsis, invitation for lectures being extended only when the fund will have Rs 300] to Rs 6001 to its credit. The lectures may not therefore, be an annual event, A series may be arranged every two or three years.

(iv) The first series of lectures should be delivered in the Cotton College, Gauhati, the second series in the Murarichand College, Sylhet, and the third series in the Assam Sahitya Sabha, Jorhat.

(v) This arrangement and order may continue till a University is established in Assam, when the administration of the fund may be transferred to the University for the purpose of arranging the course of lectures as described in (i) above, other details being left to the University.

4, The monsy will be invested in the Post Office Savings Bank in the name of the Director of Public Instruction, Assam.

5. The ‘Pratibha Devi Trust Fund” is also declared to be a permanent endowment. The income derived from the fund is exempted from the payment of incom-tax under section 4

(3) (1) of the Income-tax Act, 1922 (XI of 1922).

6. The Dy. Controller of the Currency, Calcutta and the Examiner, Local Accounts, Assam, have been advised of the

action.
