My soul is on the point of perishing through the posion of the venomous serpent of worldly things. On this earth all is transitory and uncertain- wealth, Kinsmen, life, youth, and even the world itself. Children, family, all are uncertain. On what shall I place reliance? Like a drop of water on the lotus leaf, the mind is unsteady. There is no firmness in it. There is nothing uncertain in Thy grace and no cause for fear under the shadow of Thy feet. I. Sankara, pray to Thee, O, Hrishikesh, the Dweller in my heart, to pilot me across this world of trouble. Turun my heart to Thee and lead me to Thyself, Oh Lord of all blessings and all grace. Vouchsafe unto me the truth, the right path, and the kindly guidance." কেমেৰাকুটীত থাকি শ্ৰীশঙ্কৰদেৱে ভাল নাপাই, ব্রাহ্মণ জ্ঞাতি-কুটুম্বৰসকলেৰে সৈতে পরামর্শ কৰি, বুঢ়ী গঙ্গইদি উজাই গৈ গাংমৌ পালেগৈ। গাংমৌত থাকিবৰ নিমিত্তে তেওঁ হাটবাটী নামঘৰ আদি সজালে। গাংমৌত শ্ৰীশঙ্কৰদেৱৰ পুতেক ৰমানন্দ ঠাকুৰৰ জন্ম হয়। যি সময়ত ৰমানন্দৰ জন্ম হয়, সেই সময়ত শঙ্কদেৱে ভকত আৰু ভূঞাসকলেৰে সৈতে সভা কৰি বহি আছিল। এনে সময়তে তেওঁৰ বুঢ়ীদাসী চন্দৰীয়ে খবৰ দিলেহি-“ডেকাগিৰি, তোমাৰ এটি পুত্র জন্ম হৈছে।” এই খবৰ শুনি শঙ্কৰদের আনন্দ প্রকাশ নকৰি বিষাদিত মনেৰে এই গীতটি ৰচনা কৰি গালে, যাৰ ইংৰাজী অনুবাদ অদ্ভুজে ওপৰত কৰি দিছে। গীতটি এই— পাৱে পৰি হৰি, কৰোহো কাতৰি, প্রাণ ৰাখবি মোৰ। বিষয়-বিষধৰ বিষে জৰজৰ জীৱন নাৰহে আৰ। অথিৰ ধন জন অথিৰ জীৱন অথিৰ এহু সংসাৰ। পুত্ৰ পৰিবাৰ, সবহি অসাৰ কৰবো কাহেৰি সাৰ। কমলদলজল চিত্ত চঞ্চল, থিৰ নোহে তিল এক। নাহি ভৱ ভয়, ভোগ পৰিহৰি, পৰম্পদ পৰতেক।
